What is Zigbee?
Zigbee is an open wireless standard (IEEE 802.15.4) that operates on the 2.4 GHz band. Thanks to a self-healing mesh network, each networked device (e.g., lights mounted in the wall) can forward the signal, so the more devices you have, the greater the range. The technology is energy-efficient – battery-powered sensors can last for several years – and uses modern 128-bit encryption for high security.

How does it work?
Zigbee creates its own network for your smart products. This allows lights, sensors, and outlets to work together with the hub and with each other, without you having to worry about how it all connects.
The products complement each other
Mains-powered products, such as smart lights and smart plugs, can forward the signal. This helps the network reach further.
Sensors save energy
Battery-powered sensors are awake when needed and rest in between. This makes them small, flexible, and easy to live with.
What do I need?
You'll need a Telldus hub 1 and the Zigbee products you want to control. Then, you add them to the app, and let your home start working smarter.
Zigbee mesh – the self-healing network
With Zigbee, each networked light, sensor, or smart plug acts as a small repeater that relays the signal to the next device. The network repairs itself if a node goes down, so communication always finds a new path and you get stable coverage throughout your home—even through concrete walls and multiple floors. The more Zigbee products you add, the stronger the network becomes, while battery-powered devices save power by sleeping until they’re needed.
