Hub 2: what to expect

We have long said that truly smart homes are about everything working together. Less hassle, more utility. No vendor lock-in. Mix 'n match, plug 'n play.
Hub 2 is our next big step in that direction. Here's what you can expect.
More devices that work together
Hub 2 handles more protocols than any previous Telldus hub: Zigbee, Matter over Thread, Matter over Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. In practice, this means that more devices from more manufacturers—IKEA, Philips, Osram, frient, and many others—can be controlled from the same app.
The smart home has long been fragmented. One app for the lights. Another for the heating. A third for the sensors. Hub 2 is built to bring it all together—you choose the devices you want, not just the ones that happen to fit your particular hub.
No vendor lock-in. Mix 'n match.
Works even when the internet is down
Your automations run locally in Hub 2—commands and schedules go directly from the hub to your devices, regardless of whether they speak Zigbee, Thread, Matter, or Bluetooth. This means that even when the internet is down, your smart home continues to run as usual. Lights turn on according to schedule. The motion sensor turns on the lighting. The water leak sensor triggers its alarm.
This is an important feature we've built in. Smart homes shouldn't stop being smart just because the router is acting up.
Year-round monitoring, wherever you are
Hub 2 and the new Telldus app are made for each other. Your home, your cottage, your basement—all gathered in one place. You log in once and have an overview of exactly what you want to keep an eye on.
Temperature in the laundry room. Humidity in the basement. Lights that turn on when you come home. Sensors that alert you if something is amiss. Year-round, wherever you are.
Ready for what's next
The smart home world is evolving rapidly. Matter is still young, Thread is growing, and new standards emerge every year. Hub 2 is built to keep up—new hardware from the ground up, with room for what's to come.
We don't know exactly what devices will be available in two years. But Hub 2 will be able to communicate with them.
