Finally! One app instead of two — the new Telldus app is now in open beta

Today we are taking a step we have discussed internally for a long time, and which many of you have requested: the new Telldus app is now available in open beta for all users, on both iOS and Android.
Why a new app?
If you are a Telldus user today, you probably have either the Telldus Live! or the hub 1 app installed. Maybe both. The functionalities have differed between the two, and over time this has created a situation where the answer to "which app should I use?" has been "it depends on what you want to do". That's not a good experience.
The new Telldus app brings everything together in one place. Equally important: it lays the groundwork for everything we want to build moving forward. This is the first step in a major modernization of our platform, where the goal is to be able to deliver new features faster, more reliably, and on a technical foundation that will last over time.
How to get started
The beta is available for both iOS and Android. The links differ depending on the platform:
iOS: 1. Download TestFlight. Step 2. Download the App
Android: Step 1: Sign up for the beta here. Step 2: Download on Google Play.
No migration is required. It's the same account and the same backend as before — if you log in to the new app, your devices, rooms, automations, and settings are already there. It's not a migration; it's the same data, just a new app to access it through.
What works in the beta
We have focused on getting the basics right. This means that support for your existing devices and settings comes first.
Unified automation view. Scenes, schedules, sunrise/sunset with offset, rules (trigger → condition → action) and geofencing — all under one tab.
Geofencing that works. Geofencing has historically been tricky in both the Live! and hub 1 apps. In the new app, you get support for multiple locations and an implementation that actually does what it's supposed to.
Rooms and groups. Devices are organized into rooms, and groups allow you to control multiple devices at once — turn on, turn off, dim, set color — where applicable.
Family Sharing. Invite family members and share the home — no limit on the number. Works with iOS and Android.
Sensor history. Live reading, 24-hour graph, 7 days history as a free user and 365 days with Premium — as before.
Notifications. Push, SMS, and email work as before, with the same Premium features you are used to.
Protocols supported in the beta: 433 MHz, Z-Wave, Zigbee, and Bluetooth.
What doesn't work (yet)
This is a beta, and we want to be upfront about what you can expect.
Remote controls do not fully work. We will provide more information on the exact limitations when we have it.
Automations and groups are isolated per app right now. What you create in the new app is visible in Telldus Live!, but can only be read there — not edited. The same applies the other way around: automations and groups from Live! can be seen but not edited in the new app. This is a transitional phase, not final.
Smartline (Bluetooth). Internal automations on Smartline devices via Bluetooth have known issues that we are working on.
Minor bugs and visual quirks. They exist, we are aware of many of them, and we cannot list them all here. That's why it's a beta.
Your feedback is important
An open beta thrives on users actually using it and telling us what they think. Whether it's a bug, a missing feature, a suggestion, or just a reflection on how it feels to switch — we want to hear it.
